Our Culture Is Built by Our People….and This Is What We’ve Built

23 – That’s the number of times I shared news about awards and recognition that Palo Alto Networks received for our culture over the last fiscal year. As the chief people officer, I’m proud to see our culture and style recognized so extensively. I guess it means we’re doing something right as we build the cybersecurity workplace of choice based on our FLEWORK philosophy. It also gives me reason to pause and reflect on what the recognition really means.

Employee Feedback Creates an Authentic Employer Brand

All of the accolades were awarded as a result of feedback from our employees. Of course employees give us direct feedback through internal surveys and listening sessions, which we use to refine our strategies, but when they share their opinions online, however, employees are telling others about our special culture. That’s huge.

Recognized by Comparably in 7 “Best of” categories and by Newsweek as a “Most Loved Company.”

Surveys about Culture Reinforce our Commitment to Inclusion and Diversity

We value inclusion and diversity and therefore we believe it’s important to take an active role and participate in surveys that assess our efforts. Organizations like Disability:IN, Human Rights Campaign, Military Friendly, RippleMatch and others conduct annual surveys to evaluate how we perform against criteria important to underrepresented talent. These tools help us stay informed about the needs of many of our communities, so we can continuously steer our efforts to address those needs.

Achieved a 100% rating on the HRC Corporate Equality Index and the Disability Index.

Rating Entities Assess our Record of Corporate Responsibility

Measurement of our environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices helps us demonstrate that how we operate our business is as important as the business itself. We monitor ESG raters and data aggregators, such as Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), JUST Capital, Morgan Stanley Capital Investment (MSCI), Sustainalytics and more. They collect information about our ESG practices and issue rankings and ratings based on that research. This provides transparency to all of our stakeholders regarding our performance against ESG themes.

Rated “Prime” by ISS and “Industry Top Rated” by Sustainalytics.

Being Proud, And Constantly Listening

Receiving recognition is great – it feels good. I also believe it increases the pride employees feel for the Palo Alto Networks culture. These awards are not just grab-and-grin moments, however awards and recognitions keep us on our toes, particularly as we enter a new fiscal year and put our sights on even loftier aspirations. They remind us of how important it is to continuously disrupt and raise the bar in everything we do, and that we are making strides on adding more and more personalization into our workplace experience. It shows. Afterall, that’s the only way that we can earn the trust and respect of our employees, investors, customers and partners, suppliers and communities.
